Holiday adventures in Senj & its surroundings

The small town of Senj is located about 75 kilometres away from Rijeka at the end of the Kvarner Bay and looks back on more than 3,000 years of history: as an old seafaring town, today’s Senj has lost none of its charm and attracts visitors with its winding alleys, the old fortress „Nehaj“ and the Cathedral of St. Mary built in the 11th century.
Take a pleasant stroll through the medieval old town, go sightseeing on an e-scooter without getting sore feet, enjoy a bike ride along the coast or jump on a stand-up paddle and savour the crystal-clear, clean water at the local beaches and bays. No matter what you opt for: A holiday in Senj will show you the most beautiful sides of the beautiful Kvarner region – at any time of the year.
For all adventurous travellers, the surrounding area is ideal for day trips: Visit the impressive Plitvice Lakes (about 120 km away), the nature park „Velebit“ or drive out to the countryside, where untouched nature and quiet little villages await you. You can also set out on excursions to the popular holiday islands of Rab or Krk. The Senj carnival is particularly popular as it is celebrated here not only in winter but also in summer and is one of the biggest attractions of the holiday destination.
